This
50 foot sloop is designed as a high performance racer/cruiser to be sailed primarily in Southern California with races as long as to
Cabo San Lucas and Hawaii and buoy races as far away as San Francisco.
This boat will be competing under several handicap systems,
including ORR, PHRF and IRC. It
will buoy race with about 15 crew, race “Beer Cans” with up to 30
people aboard, race to Hawaii and Mexico with a crew of 9-10 and
comfortably cruise to Catalina with 2-4 for a long weekend.
The
rig is organized to facilitate simple adjustment for powering up in light
air and de-powering in increasing winds.
Extra power for light air typical of Newport Beach is provided by
the masthead, rope luff, roller furling genoa.
The fractional non-overlapping jibs and runner-less rig are
efficient for quick tacking for buoys racing in a breeze and combine with
the masthead spinnakers for stunning off wind performance.
Construction is light and strong, predominantly in carbon fiber to
achieve performance and weight goals.
Accommodations and systems are comfortable, practical,
maintainable, reliable and seaworthy.
